Pets?
Dogs are allowed in the Gourette area, however the usual precautions must be observed:
- You are traveling in a pastoral area: in the mountains, the herds roam free and are guarded by Patous or other guard dogs. Keep your distance and do not approach the herds.
- Keep your dog on a leash and don't let him wander off the leash. Wild animals are timid and you won't be able to observe them.
Mountain Safety
- Always inform a relative or someone else of your departure (place/time of return/contact number)
- Emergency number: 112
- Markings: These can sometimes be damaged or hidden (vegetation, scree, etc.). If in doubt, it is best to retrace your steps. Check before setting off.
