    The pleasures of good food

    Get your feet under a good table for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner! All you have to do is let yourself be spoiled by our restaurateurs who will refresh you with their thick home-made country soup, a succulent confit of duck or a beautiful plate of local specialities. As for picnic-lovers, keen to discover our local cooked meats and cheeses, they will find lovely places set aside especially for them.

    In the Ossau valley, there is a tasting ritual that few holiday-makers can resist: testing the local cheese. It can be tried at our market stalls, on our farms and in our country huts. It is made from ewe’s or cow’s milk or a mixture of the two and its flavour is unrivalled anywhere.

    The season for making this exceptional product is marked by two events: taking the herds up the mountain to the upper pastures at the beginning of July and the cheese fair on the first weekend of October.
