Start date

From the Gourette Tourist Office (Maison de Gourette), cross the Place de Sarrière and head towards the foot of the slopes. Go up to the hotel de la Boule de Neige located 50 m higher on the slopes, and take the motorable path which starts on your right, passing near the "turquoise / green" chalet of the Crèche Halte-Garderie. Follow this track until the big switchback. Take the small path which starts in the corner on the right and rises in laces in the Bois Noir. After the small descent, in the clearing "pull" to the left, and join the track which goes up. Follow this winding track with a rather gentle drop, in open ground, from where a path starts which climbs into a small valley and ends at the top of the arrival of the cable car on the Bézou plateau.

The Bezou

In summer (July and August) you can also take the cable car to arrive directly at Bezou and gain 1 hour of ascent. From the Bézou plateau, head south, follow the Plaa Ségouné chairlift by the wide track that winds up south until you reach the large flat area. At the arrival of the chairlift, a cairn path climbs up through the gravel, leaving the lackeys of Plaa Ségouné below to the left. You will find yellow markings and in places purple and orange over-markings. You will have the impression of being on a wild ground where you will not meet many people, apart from a few herds. This route will require a good sense of direction. You will take an off-trail area.

Plaa Segouné

Climbing through screes will take you to the Col de l'Amoulat, which must be left on your left to follow the path on the right. You climb until you reach the Plaa Ségouné pass located at 2380 m high. Follow the perfectly visible path that heads north, crossing under the Rognon de Ger. Beyond, the path rises through the scree, the ascent will be on the side, in places deteriorated and requiring a little attention until reaching the summit (north direction). You have arrived, the Pic de Ger culminates at 2613m altitude From the summit, you will enjoy a 360 ° view of the high peaks of the Ossau Valley including the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, and those of the valleys neighbors going from Bigorre to the Aspe Valley via Spain ... The return will be by the same path.
