What better way to start this Great Crossing of the Pyrenees than to start from the summit of one of the giants of the Tour de France. In prologue format, this first, fairly short stage allows you to get acquainted with the Pyrenean terrain.

Aubisque Pass

From the Col de l'Aubisque car park, follow a well-marked path which overlooks the pass road, then climbs to the Col de Noulatte (1804m), then the Col d'Andreyt, and finally the Col de la Cure after a few technical descents.

Cure Pass

The route heads west, alternating between sections on tracks and grass on domes and single tracks on the crossings. It follows a variant of the GRP of the Ossau Valley (yellow and red markings). up to the ridge line of the so-called "Green Mountain" and plunges into the southern slope. It becomes more technical, makes three steep bends and comes out into the village of Aas.

Aas

At the exit of the village, take the old path that enters a plant tunnel. A section of leapfrog over large pebbles takes you to the village of Assouste, before emerging at the foot of the Espalungue castle. Follow the GR®108, cross the Gave d'Ossau to join the pumptrack installed along the Gave on the right. Continue to the Place de la Mairie de Laruns.
