The Col d'Aubisque/Louvie-Soubiron descent

From the Col d'Aubisque car park, leave the shops on your left to take, northward and for 2400m, the stony track which dominates the landscapes of the Soulor pass and the Ouzom valley. Take the dirt track to the right entering the pasture on the ridge line. The route gradually fades, the milestones materializing the axis of the passage, still on the ridge line to reach the Col de Louvie. Be careful, temporary electric fences can limit the wandering of livestock. Keep an eye out and remember to close the fences thanks to the insulating handle specially designed to facilitate passage. At the Col de Louvie, the junction to the left dominates a thalweg.

The route on a path drawn by the herds uses the right slope of the thalweg. In the event of bad weather or reduced visibility, turn left onto the new wide track. The two routes meet 600m further on. Then stay on the main track which becomes stony and brittle again until the outskirts of Louvie-Soubiron. Continue opposite in the descent towards the valley through the hamlet of Listo. (Built at an altitude of 845 meters on a shoulder of the Auzu peak, above the Canceigt ravine). Listo is on the old path crossing the territory of Louvie-Soubiron from the valley of Ossau to that of Ouzom to reach the hamlet of Eschartès and the iron mine of Baburet. The slopes surrounding the village were cultivated until the end of the XNUMXth century.

The bravest will be able to vary the pleasures by turning right to climb towards the Pic d'Auzu and continue the descent in the wood of Peyraube leading to Aste-Béon (see VTT loop n ° 13After the section of concrete road, turn left and reduce speed when entering the narrow streets of Louvie-Soubiron.
